二十世紀的人是太忙了. 沒有功夫去讀談思想的書. 可是卻有空閒去讀一本五六十萬字的小說, 再從那裡淘煉出那一句半句帶點哲學味兒的話來, 豈不是更大的笑話嗎?
既然是這樣, 那我這個二十一世紀的人, 也甘心鬧笑話, 每天從書中摘錄"一句半句帶點哲學味兒的話來".
今天是第一篇, 來自未央歌/第九章/第二百九十二页, 這是第九章的開端. 聯大的學生剛結束夏令營, 回到校園迎接秋季開學, 燕梅上到了大學二年級. 寶笙和文宣在書信中討論了燕梅的大學生活, 文宣遺憾自己大學時一心撲在學業上, 除了讀書少有其他回憶, 所以她希望燕梅的大學生活能輕鬆愉快些, 要多去關注情感世界. 於是一開始作者通過這樣一段話, 引出他們二人在信中的憂慮和思索:
愛情也往往是隨了第二年的開學以俱來的. 一年級的男女同學是依了中學時的習慣. 男孩子找男孩子玩. 女孩子找女孩子玩. 二年級的時候, 挾了那個生疏的書本同筆記本子, 匆匆地在校園中走來走去的時候, 正像他們纔發現自己是大學生那樣, 也戰憟地發現了自己已經是個成年的男子, 或者是懂得別人暗暗注視和私議的大姑娘了.
一個學生若不是被上面的話說中, 那麼, 他很可能, 一下子為了事前過分的緊張情緒所驅使, 在接受他二年級新功课時跳過了感覺生疏的那一個階段, 便走進了另一個世界. 此後三年之中, 走了一條直路. 直到那淒涼的畢業日到來. 有時候會無所適從, 不知如何應付課業以外的事. 他也很可能如春寒所凍殺的小草一樣, 在剛一發現自己是個青春期的青年時, 因為不能習慣這種心裡, 便早早地把才發芽的情思埋葬了. 也許直到許多年以後才又為一個春雷驚醒. 那時便像在暗室中發芽的慘白的小葉子, 又孱弱, 又可笑.
